Crime Scene Investigation - Innovation Without Borders in Law Enforcement

In the critical Golden Hour, forensic information must move as fast as the incident itself. Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) – Innovation Without Borders in Law Enforcement explores how AI, live-streaming, voice-controlled technology and real-time collaboration can transform early forensic observations into fast, actionable and transparent information for operational and investigative decision-making.

Drawing on experiences from the Europol Innovation Award-winning Norwegian AI4Interviews project—including Operation LONO with the Metropolitan Police and operational exercises—the presentation demonstrates how hands-free documentation, speech-to-text, video and AI-supported information processing can connect crime scenes, laboratories, specialists and command centres within minutes.

The ambition is to bring expertise to where it is needed, strengthen situational awareness, accelerate information flow and support better-informed decisions—while keeping humans firmly in command. Context is essential.

Through experiences from realistic CSI scenarios, operational exercises and Operation LONO, the presentation will highlight lessons learned, practical opportunities and remaining challenges—and offer a glimpse into a future of distributed forensic capability, connected expertise and forensics without borders.
