ID:Smart Workshop 2024

Call for Papers

ID:SMART Workshop is an annual face-to-face conference that fosters networking and technical updates within the European community of electronic identities, wallets, smart cards and hardware security modules (HSMs). Previously known as Smartcard-Workshop, it has been the reference event for hands-on researchers, standardization group members, decision-makers and experts from companies and government administration since 1991.

The 2024 ID:SMART edition will be held on 21-22 February, 2024 in Darmstadt, Germany. Conference language will be English, including all presentations.

Contributions shall address innovations, regulations, standards, certifications or implementations regarding electronic identities for connected devices and individuals, focusing on application-related or foundational topics and research, such as:

• All aspects of digital identity lifecycles
• Technologies and industry best practices covering cryptography as PQC, compliance and interoperability testing, evaluation and certification
• Identity technologies such as travel and ID-documents, wallets, qualified electronic attestation of attributes, identity proof etc.
• Use-cases covering consumers and industries such as Secure IoT, Automation, Healthcare, Mobility/Automotive, Government services and others.

We invite submissions of max. 1 page abstract, plus 1 page table of contents, until 31 October, 2023 to

id-smart-2024@cast-forum.de.

The Workshop Programme Committee then evaluates the submissions against their innovation level, practical relevance, technical depth and implementation findings. Authors will be informed by 30 November, 2023 about the acceptance to the workshop.

The selected contributions will be offered a 20min. presentation slot, followed by a 10min. Q&A session in the main programme of the workshop. Presentation slides shall be provided by 31 January, 2024.

Authors of accepted submissions are expected to submit a 3-10 page paper for publication in the digital workshop proceedings until 29 December, 2024.
